Time it takes to be taken to court after being arrested?

If you are in the u.s., there is a constitutional right to a speedy trial. That is a very flexible concept. If the defense agreed with the continuances, as they often do, there is no violation. Without that agreement, four years will be seen as presumptively prejudicial and the prosecutor would have a hard time justifying it.
