House of Night VS. Vampire Academy Series?

I luvvvvv the Twilight Saga so i wanted to read another Vampire Romance series so i was gnna read House of Night series till yesterday i went to ShopRite and i saww a PEOPLE magazine about Taylor, Kristen, and Robert and it was about Eclipse but den there was a page dat showed VAMPIRE ACADEMY series and some said(i forgot to check who said it) about it "THE OBVIOUS HEIR TO THE TWILIGHT SAGA" which made me wanna read that series but now im confused if i should read da HOUSE OF NIGHT or VAMPIRE ACADEMY series so if you ever read booth of them can u tell me which is better???
