I need lawyer advice on property ownership in International territory.?
My mother, just about 1 year ago, found out that she came into property in the Philippines by her brother. The WILL specified that the land was to be left for my mother. But my mother, not being a greedy woman, decided to share the land with her brothers and sisters. The thing that gets me a little worried is that a lawyer was contacted but is only dealing with my brother and no one has contacted my mother about the will. I always thought that a lawyer was supposed to contact the right person, like mother, not just someone else. And at one point, my mother and her sisters kept giving money to my brother for the lawyer fees-there was never any receipts or any sort of acknowledgement of payment. And when my mother did sale a portion of land, the returning money/what they got was of little value. I am now concern that my mother and her sisters are getting dupe/gyp by their own brother. I need help to know the right processing of this situation in a legal standpoint because I know someone is profiting and its not my mother. I mean is my uncle doing the right thing or is there something wrong happening in this situation???
