I have been using my AC only in my 2004 sunfire, I tried to use the defogger this morning and it didn't work.

When I switched the setting to Defrost, it was hard to turn, and it didn't switch to defrost. The air was still coming from the front vents. So I tried other settings and nothing happened, it still only came out the front vents. What causes this? Is it expensive to fix?
